We have a 1985 450E Mercedes Benz. All original upholstery, paint and and devices including built in alarm and driver's safety air bag. We tried to sell it very cheap because of the high mileage 175.000 but an antique car dealer advised us to hold on to it because at age 25 automobiles change their status from used cars to antique cars and their value changes with their status.
I knew that was true of buildings that changed from old to historical and people that change from young and dumb to old and wise but I was unaware that cars followed the same line. It is always good to talk to people for even the most ignorant person might know something about objects or life that intelligent people do not see or appreciate. This is the reason we are going to open Tinahasit Virtual Shop to show people the past mixed with the new and the original and to present one of a kind item that could not be found anywhere else

Solidity
Solidity in merchandise, in practices and in buildings translates into Stability of character and mind. I come from Italy where we have buildings that stand after centennials. Like the old buildings the old people relied in a hand shake for they new their word was a promise non to be broken. Today chaotic world has produced a chaotic, unreliable society. The so called "throw away age" created mental and physical instability. Everything seems to be flighty. Words are just words with no meaning. Everybody says "I love you" but nobody ever proves love with care and attention.
After WWII Italy was destroyed. We had to cope with life, epidemics, lack of food and water and death. We had to make our own clothes, shoes, hats and gloves. Everything was done at home. Knowledge was passed on from one generation to the next. We were not allowed to dishonor the family's name for that and hope in the future were the only thing we had to hold on to. Our songs were melodies, the song words were poems. Everything was aimed to develop conscience and good will. We were and are solid people. We kept our solidity conserving beauty, knowledge and pride. We are stable in our homes, our marriages and raised our children with respect for higher powers. The few left of us are individuals and refuse to become a number. Individualism is our personal power. We are as strong as the solid merchandise that furnishes our old homes. Basements and roots have to run deep or else the houses fall and the trees are easily extirpated.

old becomes new
Old styles in furniture, clothing, shoes and apparels are coming back as a new fashion. The only difference is the substance and the material used to make reproductions of the old designs and fashions. Furniture used to be wood, now the majority are press-wood. clothing was pure silk or pure cotton or pure linen or pure wool. Now there is such a mixture of synthetic fabrics that even dry cleaner are puzzled on how to clean using chemicals good for one fabric but damaging to the rest of the mixture.
Like furniture, clothing and everything else on the market, today's people have changed as well. All the so called improvement on all things created a great confusion in the human brain. For the brain is the one thing that cannot be mixed. It might be altered with drugs and chemicals but cannot be mixed. All the confusion creates unrest, depression, unhappiness. Negativism has been pushed for the last generation and today every one of a certain age acts negative. We seem to make 1 step forward and two backwards when it comes to humanity, social life and social behavior. How hard would it be to go back to the world of honesty and life ruled by the ten commandments instead of selfishness and greed. Tinahasit.com offers real merchandise made with the real materials, no mixtures. Just genuine. Tinahasit.com will soon open a virtual shop where everything will be original and natural like the people behind the shop. HPP (honesty. Pride. Promptness) will be the motto for tinahasit virtual shop.

Winter in the spring
It has always cooled off about one week before Easter. This time is different. It not only cooled off, the weather decided to freeze us again. Put away spring clothes and back to heavy coats again. I feel for the people who planted their garden following the moon and the season. It appears seasons have disappeared.
It appears like we need to take both life and weather day by day. I wonder if emptying the earth of it's natural fillers and buffers like petroleum and natural gas has interfered to change our weather. These natural resources cannot be replaced. Men cannot keep dipping away without replacing. In the agricultural age the producer was also the consumer. So what was consumed was automatically replaced by future crops.
Now days there is an abyss between producer and consumer but the producers do not replace what they sold the consumers.
We only have one earth and we all have to live in it. Why should just few exploit it leaving the majority in total dependence of their exploitation.

Ancient to new
on the grounds of tinahasit.com in Millbrook there still lots of secrets buried to speak about the past. I dug to plant a new tree and found Yankee bullets still buried into the grounds. I found horses harness pieces and pieces of old plows.
I asked an historian how is it possible that Yankee bullets would be buried in these ground. He scratched his head and concluded mumbling: "Could be they attacked a convoy and robbed their firing supplies". I also found the drum of a cap and ball pistol. I wish I could find the whole thing. A bottle or rat poisoning, umber color with a big rat embossed on it and lots of small medicine bottles.
All these marvels are going to be posted on the up coming Tinahasit Virtual Shop.

Wetumpka, Alabama
The manor on tinahasit.com backs into Hwy.14 which proceeds to Wetumpka. Wetumpka is the Elmore County seat. An interesting brief history of Wetumpa, Alabama Information obtained from the Chamber of Commerce.
"Against the background of the Appalachian foothills, snuggled against the Coosa river above its junction with the Tallapoosa, nestles the small city of Wetumpka. The thriving community still keeps the fascinating looks of vintage homes with tall columns and extended porches mixed with the freshly renovated architecture of the downtown area. Wetumpka is a sparking combination of the past and the present.
The Indian words WE-WAU (water), TUM-CAU (rumbling) is what gave the city it's name.
WE-WAU and TUM-CAU was the creek description of the prominent point in the Coosa where the rapids ran across the river rocks. Hence the modernized name of WETUMPKA.
The native population was influenced by the British and the French. The British-French influence created friction between the two European Countries. The financial difficulty in France effected the garrison at Fort Touluse which were finally compelled to withdraw. The French commander decommissioned his cannon and abandoned the post. Wetumpka then became a part of the British province of Illinois under the rule of Great Britain until 1798, when it became part of the US territory of Mississippi.
From 1800 to 1812 Pioneers invaded the territory in great number and caused growing unrest among the Indian population. Pioneers wanted to take over. in 1811 Shawnee Chief Tukumseh came to the creek to urge the Indians to exterminate the settlers.
In 1812 the US declared war on Britain. The Indians lost the assistance of the British but they were not deterred by fighting the settlers.
When the Alabama territory was created in 1817 Wetumpka was within its boundaries. Counties were established in 1818. Western Wetumpka fell in Autauga County and the eastern side of the city fell in Coosa County. The Eastern side was incorporated on January 17, 1834. The west side was incorporated on February 18, 1834. In 1839 the two halves of the city were jointly incorporated. When Elmore County was created in 1866 Wetumpka was chosen as the site for the County Court House.

butterflies

Bees, butterflies and red birds are livening up our property and our souls. It is beautiful to see all those colors and hear the buzz's and the chirps. Nature if really waking up now. The grass is greener the flowers are blooming again. The Crape Myrtles are budding new leaves. It's like waking up into a new life. All the happiness nature brings seems to nullify the aches and pains of the body because the senses are too busy to take in the beauty, the smells, the colors and the noises.

April's Fool
We were really fooled by the coming of April. Instead of the April's showers we were gifted with a beautiful, warm, sunny day. Thank God for that. Our Alabama river is way up and the grounds are very soggy. We do need to dry out. I feel today's beautiful sunny day was our gift for the late spring. Love you mother nature, keep up the good works. Could be we can plant our gardens now and hope to have a plentiful crop.
