Elmore County

Elmore County was created by the Alabama legislature in 1866 from parts of Autauga, Coosa, Montgomeryeast and Tallapoosa Counties. Named after General John Archer Elmore, a Veteran of the American Revolution. Elmore County lies in the eastern central part of the state, surrounded by the Coosa and the Tallapoosa rivers which merge to form the Alabama river, just East of Millbrook. The communities of West Elmore County, Coosada, Deatsville, Elmore and Millbrook are characterized by small, gently rolling ridge tops of sandy soil, hilly slopes and range land. Driving around the area a view of beautiful plantation homes ca still be seen, the most famous is Ellerslie which was the first permanent home in the area built in 1818.

CLIMATE: Winters are short and mild. Prattville and Millbrook average more than eight hours of sunshine per day all year. Both have a growing season of 210 days per year, the average temperature is 61.0F. The average annual rain fall is 50 inces. The average snow fall is 0.3 inches.

LOCATION: Prattville and Millbrook are located about 13 miles north of Montgomery, Alabama's State Capitol. About 200 miles from the Alabama Golf Coast and fall approximately at the geographic center of the South Eastern United States. The elevation of West Elmore County ranges from about 200 feet to to 745 feet. Elmore county encompasses 622 square miles.

Nature in Millbrook

Dogwoods have blossomed. Azaleas come alive with different color and flower shapes, some have a double flower that resemble little roses.

Soon the Crepe Myrtles will add their different colors aiming their colored branches towards the sky. The mix of bright colors is already attracting beautiful butterflies. Bees are swarming around the flower sucking the pollen. Nature is alive again in Millbrook Alabama and the old manor towers the beautiful, bright colors with his spotless white front and majestic columns.

Bearded trees

The beautiful, ancient trees show their age in the winter.

Their sagging branches covered with snow bear the weight of nature.

There is silence in the sagging, white bearded branches now.

All the happy chearping and all the new life abandoned the white topped trees.

We are part of nature.



Just as the trees become abandoned so do the elderly when their hair turn white and their strength ebbs.
It is a fascinating, never ending cycle.
From seed to bud, from bud to bloom, from bloom to strong, healthy, colorful flowers which slowly fade, sag back towards the ground.
It is the justice of nature that no one live thing, no matter how beautiful or powerful will escape.

An elongated lattice fence separates the pool building from the back road entrance to the house, guest house and apartment. I reached the twilight zone. I need to downsize and be able to care for things within my own strength. I lived in this fantastic area for 35 years. Moved in a pristine zone which has now become commercial. I am open to all options such as sell, ground lease, start a business development venture. I will take any suggestions and advise. The property is now the heart of Millbrook in Elmore County, Alabama. It is the fastest growing area. I see our ex cotton fields mutating into apartments and new neighborhoods. Beautiful shopping areas and private business are moving in. Banks, Credit Unions, Churches of all denominations, schools and private schools, medical centers. My pristine nature is no longer pristine.

Elmore County

Millbrook is located in Elmore County, the fasted developing county in the south. Highway 14 joins Elmore County to Autauga County.
Elmore County seat is in Wetumpka while Autauga County seat is in Prattville.
Wetumpka is famous for the meteor that landed there over hundred years ago, also famous for it's beautiful antebellum homes. Elmore County was haven for cotton fields; acreage after acreage of white, soft looking flowers.
Prattville was the first Cotton Gin in the area established by Mr. Pratt, hence the name Pratt ville.

Memorial Camp

Robinson Spring Confederate Memorial Camp U.C.V # 396 1861 - 1865, a reminder of Millbrook’s southern heritage.

Millbrook is distinguished by a Confederate Monument in front of a marvelous antebellum home. The monuments was dedicated to soldiers that fought from this area in this encampment.
